Apple has inked a fresh agreement with Arm that extends beyond the year 2040

According to a report by Reuters, Apple has entered into an extensive agreement with the chip design firm Arm that extends well beyond the year 2040. This information was disclosed as part of Arm’s preparations for its upcoming IPO.

While the statement regarding the agreement lacks specific details, Arm mentioned in its documents, “We have established a new long-term partnership with Apple that extends past the year 2040, continuing our longstanding collaborative relationship and granting Apple continued access to the Arm architecture.” Given the critical role of Arm’s designs in powering Apple’s flagship products such as the iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and the upcoming Vision Pro, this announcement underscores Apple’s intentions to rely on Arm’s technology platform for an extended period.

It’s worth noting that Apple is not the only company with a vested interest in Arm’s future. Arm’s documents also indicate that several major technology firms, including AMD, Apple, Google, Intel, Nvidia, Samsung, and TSMC, have expressed an interest in collectively purchasing up to $735 million worth of Arm shares.

Arm’s impending IPO comes after Nvidia’s unsuccessful attempt to acquire the company from its parent company, SoftBank. Although the acquisition was initially announced in 2020, it was abandoned in 2022 due to substantial regulatory obstacles, with UK, EU, and US regulators closely scrutinising the deal.
